It’s Monday…Hello.

29 Jul

Hello Monday,

This is the last Monday that I will go to the job that I’ve had for the past 6 years. This is the last Monday that I will sit at my microscope and check emails, the last Monday that I will chat with friends, enjoy lunch together and go on walks during our breaks. This is such a bittersweet time in my life to realize that today was the last full day at the company where I first started my career as a Cytogenetics Technologist. I have many fond memories of my journey there. I even met my husband there. I grew, I learned, and I experienced so much there. I will miss many things, mostly the people. I have worked with some amazing people in my career, and I will miss the strong working relationships we shared. I am hopeful that I will build new ones at my new job, I am hopeful for new beginnings, a new sense of motivation, and new friendships. I am excited for my new journey!

After work, I went to return some dress pants that I bought last week. I ended up finding some much more affordable ones at Costco of all places. So, I returned the others, but of course I ended up buying something else while I was there. I’ve been in a buying mood lately! I bought a starter kit of Bare Minerals make-up. I have always heard good things about it, and I like that there are only five ingredients used in it. I was hooked when they asked if they could put some on me. I don’t often wear make-up, but I think I should start since I am getting older, and my skin isn’t as young looking as it once was. Do you use Bare Minerals or have you heard anything about it? I am kind of having buyer’s remorse, and I can’t decide if I should keep it or not. Heehee.

After my shopping trip, I picked up some dinner and headed home to my boys. After an early dinner, I took Little Mr. to the park where he explored and explored. He loves walking around and picking things up off the ground. He loves to pick flowers and play in the dirt. It was a really nice evening. All in all, it wasn’t such a bad Monday.

Oh yeah, we also got a new dishwasher delivered (after suffering with our barely functioning one for a year!), and my hubby installed it. I’m so proud of him! He’s never been much of a “handy man”, but he’s been doing a lot of projects around the house lately. I’m excited to start making some home improvements now that he’s in the handy man mode! πŸ˜‰

How was your Monday? Eventful or just another Monday? Hopefully, there was some excitement in it or something that made you smile. πŸ™‚

Fun Saturday Adventure

9 Mar

Today was a great day with family and friends. The boys and I went to San Clemente for lunch with my best friend and her husband. She is pregnant and due any day now; I can’t wait to meet her little one. πŸ™‚

It was a beautiful day, so we walked to the pier for lunch. We stopped by a few shops on the walk back from lunch. They were little antique shops with tons of cute knick knacks. I wanted everything…good thing I didn’t bring my wallet along! I will have to go back soon for another visit and bring it along. πŸ˜‰ I didn’t get as many pictures as I wanted to because I was too busy catching up and chatting to think about it, but I did get a couple good ones…

Having fun shopping!

This was one of the best Saturdays I’ve had in a while. I’m excited that the weather is warming up, and we will be able to enjoy more time outside. It’s also nice that Little Mr.’s latest teething spurt has subsided and he’s in a much better mood lately. How did you spend your Saturday?

Is It Spring Yet?

5 Mar

I’m so ready for spring! I am excited for it to warm up a bit and be more colorful with pretty blooming flowers everywhere. I have slowly started shopping for spring clothing and decor for the house. And, last weekend the hubby and I did A LOT of spring cleaning. I could definitely do without that part! But, what I am looking forward to are…

and seeing all the beautiful flowers come in to bloom! Are you as excited about the seasons changing as I am?

No Work Friday!

22 Feb

Today was a busy day for us. I took the day off, and I’m so glad I did because I’ve been under a lot of stress at work lately.Β This morning I went to yoga. It was a hot yoga class, and it felt so good. My whole body got a great stretch, and I sweated out the two gluten-free beers I had last night. I have cut way back on my alcohol consumption and feel so good. I went from drinking every weekend to once or twice per month. Last night was one of those times that I decided to indulge a bit. I felt like rewarding myself for a long, stressful week at work (even though I only worked 4 days!). This was my first time trying gluten-free beer, and I must say, I was surprisingly impressed. This is the kind I tried…

It was kind of pricey, about 8 bucks for a 4-pack, but it’s worth it since it doesn’t take me much to get a little buzz these days. πŸ˜‰

After yoga, I came home, showered, and went grocery shopping with my boys. Woo hoo! Not! Still better than work though; that’s for sure! After shopping, we had a contractor come out to give us an estimate on remodeling our kitchen. I am looking forward to this and freaking out about it all at the same time. We have wanted to re-do our kitchen since we moved in over two years ago. We are now in a position where we can afford to do it. It’s exciting and scary at the same time; exciting because I cannot wait to get rid of our 1980’s style cabinets and counter-tops, and scary because it involves having strangers in our home every day for two weeks, and it costs a lot of money. I will write a post with some before and after pictures included once the process starts within the next couple of months. πŸ™‚ After we had our consultation with the contractor, we met my hubby’s dad and his wife for dinner at our favorite Thai/sushi restaurant, and I enjoyed my favorite soup (Tom Kha Gai) and a Philadelphia roll.

We took Little Mr. with us again, and he was the best boy ever! I hope his good behavior continues, but I won’t get my hopes up. He’s only 9 months old. πŸ˜‰ We will see how he acts when he’s 2! Tomorrow will probably be a busy day as well, but maybe I’ll be able to squeeze in a nap. Wouldn’t that be nice?!
