Happy Happenings and a 4th of July Recap

5 Jul

How was your holiday yesterday? Ours was nice. We hung out with family and went to the pool for a bit. I tried out a new recipe for a Paleo coconut cream pie. I added berries to make it festive. It was pretty good even though I totally forgot to make the whipped cream topping. Whoopsies! Haha. Oh well, maybe next time I will add that layer instead of the berries. 😉 Here’s the recipe if you want to try it. It was pretty easy to make and tasted great! The only thing I regret is only getting one piece.

Passed out after a long day

This is what happened after our long day away from home. Little Mr. didn’t want to nap at his Auntie’s house, so he passed out on the way home. He’s so cute when he’s sleeping!

Paleo BLT Breakfast

Here’s another yummy recipe that I recently tried. It’s called the BLT breakfast. It was a nice rendition to the traditional bacon and eggs breakfast.

SLDesigns necklace

I’m excited to have won another Instagram giveaway for a beautiful necklace. This necklace is from SLDesigns. Their jewelry is unique and one of a kind. I’ve already added a few pieces to my Christmas list. It’s not too early, right? I think they may be having another giveaway soon, so be sure to follow them on Instagram if you’d like to win!

Make Your Own Coconut Water

I’m thrilled that Kellie from Nest of Posies featured my coconut water recipe on her blog recently. She added berries and took awesome pictures. Check out her post here. And here is my original post with the recipe.

Cheers! Wine and a wine barrel plant stand

Ahh, it’s time to relax and enjoy the weekend. It was great having yesterday off, but I was thinking it was Monday all day today. My days are all mixed up! So glad to have a couple more days off to unwind.  Cheers to the weekend!

How was your week and your 4th of July?

St. Patrick’s Day 2013

17 Mar

We had a fun St. Patty’s day today. We didn’t do anything overly exciting. Our day consisted of a trip to Lowe’s, a nice walk to the park, and just hanging out at the house. I planted some lovely Gerber daisies that we picked up from Lowe’s. We shall see how long my “brown thumb” can keep them alive. WiSh Me LuCk! Speaking of luck, I felt very lucky for many things today…

I love spring-time, flowers, and spending time with my little family. I truly am a LuCkY gIrL! 🙂

I’m also lucky that I found a fun link-up party to join today! And, it fits nicely with the green theme. 😉 I joined Leroy Lime’s linky party today and shared my DIY Easter Egg Garland post. It’s the end of one holiday, now on to the next! Yay!

Easter Decor

17 Mar

Easter is right around the corner, so I thought I would share my Easter decor with you. I decorated our mantle with fun spring-time and Easter decorations. One of the decorations is an easy Easter egg garland that I made. Here’s how I made it…

Supplies:

  • 3 pieces of scrapbook paper of your choosing
  • oval stencil
  • pen
  • scissors
  • hole punch
  • yarn
  • Scotch tape

supplies2 supplies3 supplies

Directions:

  1. Choose your three pieces of scrap book paper and trace three ovals on to the back of the paper.
  2. Cut out each of the ovals with your scissors.
  3. Using your hole punch, punch a hole about an inch from the top of each oval.
  4. String each oval along a piece of yarn measuring as long as you want. Mine was about ten feet.
  5. Space each of the ovals out evenly across the string of yarn and use a small piece of Scotch tape to adhere the back of each oval to the yarn.
  6. Hang your Easter egg garland and enjoy!

DIY Easter Garland

This is what my finished garland looks like on our mantle.

And, here are some more pictures…

basket

I got these little baskets from Target and put some Easter grass in them.

bird

I’ve had this little birdie for a while. He’s been on my craft desk, but I thought he would fit in nicely on the mantle for now. I bought him from Michael’s.

chick eggs

I got these little egg chicks from the dollar spot at Target. Love!

easter decor

I bought the plastic eggs from Michael’s and put some washi tape (also from Michael’s) on a few of them to add a little cuteness. I had the vase already.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my decor as much as I enjoyed creating and sharing it. Please share in the comment section below if you used this tutorial or have other ideas to share. I’d love to see them!
