In honor of starting my new job, I got myself a new hair do. I chopped off about 6 inches and got some low lights. I also bought myself some new clothes. I am kind of excited to have an excuse to care about how I look. I was at my previous job for 6 years and ended up in a rut with caring about my looks. Everyone would show up in jeans and a t-shirt, and you were the weird one if you got dressed up at all. Honestly, I didn’t really mind it; I enjoy being comfortable, but it’s time for a change, and I’m fully embracing it. A new job, a new do, and a new wardrobe. I’m excited!
Here’s a before and after of my hair. If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve already seen it, and if you don’t follow me there, then you should! 😉
I have been doing a little shopping throughout the last week or so to build up my wardrobe. Like I said, I am used to rolling out of bed and throwing on jeans and a t-shirt, so I had zero nice work clothes. I bought a pair of black, grey and khaki dress pants and a few new tops. I shopped at the Outlet Mall and found some good deals at Anne Taylor and Banana Republic. I found my dress pants at Costco of all places. You never know what you’ll find there! They are Calvin Klein too. Score! Here are some of the tops I found…
Polka Dot Tank from Anne Taylor
Blue Tee from Banana Republic. It’s so soft, and I love the color!
Animal Print top from Banana Republic
I also bought a black cardigan from Banana Republic to wear over the tanks.
I’m so happy to have some new outfits that I feel confident wearing. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt this good, and I’m getting really excited (and nervous) to start my new job on Tuesday. Wish me luck!
Where do you like to shop for dress clothes? How often do you treat yourself to new outfits? I think I need to do this more often!
Hey friends! I recently ordered this awesome shirt from Handmade Escapade, and I wanted to show it off.
Katy is the owner of the company, and she launched the Fifty Nifty line a couple of months ago. She designed a shirt for each of the 50 states, and there are a TON of colors to choose from! It was a tough decision for me to pick between this one and the Texas one (I’m originally from TX if you didn’t know). I’m starting to think I need both; although, my hubby would probably beg to differ. He thinks I have too many clothes. I say there’s no such thing! Am I right?
Take a look at the Fifty Nifty line here! If you’d like to show off some state pride and make a purchase, you can save 20% through July 20th with code EATNAPPLAY. When you get your shirt, take a pic and post it on Instagram so we can see it! Tag me (@eatnapplay) and Katy (@mckinleykaty). We can’t wait to see your state pride!
I haven’t been posting my Happy Happenings posts weekly like I wanted to because I’ve been so busy lately, but I still do have a lot to be happy about. So, it’s time to take a minute out of my busy day and reflect on a few of those things.
Last weekend we had some family pictures taken of us. This is one of my favorites. 🙂
Tomorrow we are heading out for a mini vacay to Palm Springs. I am happy about that because it will be our first road trip with Little Mr., and it will be a fun getaway with lots of pool time. He loves the water! Wish us luck for the drive though because being cooped up in the car isn’t his favorite thing. I’m hoping for the best though.
Today I got my hair done and picked out a couple of outfits for my trip to Vegas. If you don’t already know, I’m headed to Vegas in a couple of weeks to speak at a conference for my job. I’m getting excited (and nervous of course)!
I’ll be wearing this blue dress for my presentation. It’s classy and comfy which I love!
This is the outfit I will wear on the other day of the conference. It’s comfy too actually. I love when comfort and cute can come together in one outfit. You just can’t beat it!
I’m also happy to announce that my friend Sarah from The Four on Board will be stopping by on Monday to do a super fun guest post. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
Well, I’m off to bed now. We’ve got a long day ahead of us tomorrow. I hope everyone has a happy Memorial day weekend! Until next time…
