Fun in the Sun

8 Mar

It’s 10pm, and I’ve been contemplating what to write about for the last 4 hours. I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine and just got off the phone with my mom which gave me a little inspiration for something to write about. We were talking about my grandparents. My grandpa is 94 and has dementia, and my grandma is 85 and suffering from osteoporosis, diabetes, and depression. Man, getting old sucks!

But, the point of my story is actually positive. Although old and frail, my grandparents are still the cutest, most loving little old couple ever. My mom snapped a picture of them the other day sitting on the porch enjoying the sunshine.

She said that my grandpa was sitting in his chair soaking up some rays and saying how nice it felt to feel the warmth of the sun. This is proof that sometimes it’s the little things that matter most in life. We shouldn’t take things like the warmth of the sun beaming down on our us for granted. We should be conscious and grateful of the little things that bring us joy each and every day.
